The first publication to focus exclusively on the artist’s work from the early to mid-1980s, the period during which the artist first became well-known. At the time Winters was among a few pioneers to embrace a painterly style, in reaction to the prevailing minimalism of the previous decade, reviving an interest in a rich surface and organic form and thus heralding the return of painting to the international art world.
