This large-format book features nearly one hundred works on paper made by David Weiss between the late 1960s and the early 1980s. During those years Weiss left his native Switzerland to travel the world, and his drawings capture his restless spirit, as well as the playful curiosity that would become central to his collaborative work with Peter Fischli.

Reproduced in full color, these ninety-seven plates cover the broad scope of imagery and techniques explored in Weiss’s drawings. As Barry Schwabsky writes in the essay, “These works reflect a commitment neither to a particular type of subject matter, nor to a particular way of drawing, but rather to an exploration of drawing as such.”
