This book reproduces 168 drawings Lucian Freud made at seventeen years old. Most were made while he passed the first winter of World War II in a cottage in Capel Curig, Wales, with his school friend David Kentish and the poet Stephen Spender. The remainder were executed in London later that year. All are reproduced here actual size, and most are published for the first time.
