Matthew Marks is pleased to announce Wade Guyton: Sculpture, the next exhibition in his gallery at 522 West 22nd Street.

Guyton’s newest work includes objects made from bronze, aluminum, steel, plaster, plywood, and carpeting. The sculptures are based on a variety of objects including the counter in the coatroom of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh; travel frames for his paintings; a Tyvek-wrapped cardboard tube used to roll his large canvases; 3D images of his sculptures from twenty years ago; and a display structure left behind when the tile store in his studio building moved out. A group of recent paintings are also included in the exhibition.

Writing about Guyton’s sculpture, curator Yilmaz Dziewior has said: “As with his paintings and drawings, Guyton has taken a given image—this time a three-dimensional one—and transferred it into something else. The significant difference in this case is that he had to appropriate the image by fabricating it as an object.”

Wade Guyton (b. 1972) has had one-person exhibitions at institutions across Europe and the United States, including the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (2023), Museum Ludwig in Cologne (2019), the Serpentine Gallery in London (2017), Kunsthalle Zürich (2013), and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (2012). Next spring, Guyton’s work will be the subject of a one-person exhibition at the Fondazione Prada in Milan.

Wade Guyton: Sculpture will be on view at 522 West 22nd Street from November 5, 2026 to January 23, 2027, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
