Matthew Marks gallery is pleased to announce The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies’ Lee Kimche McGrath Original Print Collection, the first exhibition in his gallery at 7818 Santa Monica Blvd. This exhibition is the first time the print collection will be on public view.

Named for FAPE’s Founding Director, the Collection is the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies’ oldest program. Each year an American artist contributes a print for display in U.S. embassies, beginning in 1989, when Frank Stella donated The Symphony in an edition large enough for a print to be sent to every American embassy.

Since 1995, John Baldessari, Vija Celmins, Chuck Close, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mangold, Brice Marden, Elizabeth Murray, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Susan Rothenberg, Ed Ruscha, Joel Shapiro, and the artists of Gee’s Bend (Louisiana Bendolph, Mary Lee Bendolph, Loretta Bennett, and Loretta Pettway) have contributed editions.

The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies’ Lee Kimche McGrath Original Print Collection will be on view from October 6 through October 13, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at 7818 Santa Monica Boulevard.
