Matthew Marks is pleased to announce Anni Albers, Robert Beck, Cady Noland, Joan Semmel, and Nancy Shaver: Black and White Photographs 1975–77, an exhibition curated by Robert Gober, the next exhibition in his gallery at 522 West 22nd Street.

The large front gallery will include five works: a woven wall-hanging by Albers made at the Bauhaus in 1927 (loaned by The Museum of Modern Art); a video installation by Beck called The Spiked Buck; a sculpture by Noland; and two large figurative paintings by Semmel from the mid-1970s.

The rear gallery will hold 16 black-and-white photographs by Shaver of found children’s clothing, made between 1975 and 1977.

Gober has previously curated two exhibitions: “Robert Gober, Nancy Shaver, Alan Turner, Meg Webster” at the Cable Gallery, New York, in 1987, and “Untitled Installation,” included in “Utopia Post Utopia” at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, in 1988.

Anni Albers, Robert Beck, Cady Noland, Joan Semmel and Nancy Shaver: Black and White Photographs 1975–77, an exhibition curated by Robert Gober, will be on view at Matthew Marks Gallery, 522 West 22nd Street (between 10th and 11th Avenues), through September 10, 1999.
