City Streets 2020 2020
Oil on linen

According to Whitney, the title City Streets 2020 stems from his experience of New York City in the summer of 2020, its streets filled with protest marches in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The painting’s gridded composition and lively colors call to mind Piet Mondrian’s New York-inspired Broadway Boogie Woogie (1942–43).
